Job Description:

You Are:

Role Summary
The intermediate technologist will prepare detailed contract documents, including drawings and specifications, under direction of senior staff within a team environment.  You will be able to work independently or lead smaller projects with minimal support and update the project lead and supervisor on progress and issues as required.  The individual must have a thorough understanding of the processes of conceptualization, design and implementation of buildings as well as the technological aspects of building design from an engineering and construction standpoint.

What you will work on:

  • Establish and maintain project schedules and work plans;
  • Provide support to design staff during design phases;
  • Assist in preparation of design drawings;
  • Collaborates with design staff on issues related to code and constructability;
  • Assist and / or prepare architectural contract documents following company standards;
  • Conducts on-site verifications of as-built conditions;
  • Assist in conducting building code reviews;
  • Create mark-ups and sketches for input into drawings;
  • Prepare appropriate documentation for Building Permit applications;
  • Communicate and respond to authorities having jurisdiction;
  • Reviews and coordinates contract documents from various disciplines (ie: structural, mechanical, electrical);
  • Chairs and minutes project meetings with client and / or consultant;
  • Provides support through contract administration phase;
  • Assist in shop drawing reviews;
  • Assist with contract administration paperwork;
  • Assist in implementation of record drawings at project close-out;
  • Respond to contractor queries and provides direction as required;
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior staff as appropriate;
  • Carry out implementation of record drawings at project close-out;
  • May be required to pick up/drop off permit applications at the applicable authority having jurisdiction;
  • Participate in onsite reviews as required;
  • May be required to provide support or assist with various tasks at various skills levels as may be required for project and / or firm success.

You will need knowledge competencies:

  • Intermediate+ understanding of:
    • Building, fire and energy codes;
    • Design and construction process;
    • Specifications;
    • Building materials and installation methods;
    • Local authority process;
    • Architectural document preparation and layout;
    • Building envelope and principals;
    • Detailing.
  • Proficient at drawing sheet set up, annotating and dimensioning utilizing Autodesk Revit software.

You will need technical competencies:

  • Autodesk Revit;
  • Autodesk AutoCAD;
  • Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Bluebeam REVU;

What you will require:

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Architectural Technology diploma;
  • Engineering Design and Drafting diploma and/or Autodesk Revit training certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the design/architectural/engineering industry;
  • Post-Secondary Diploma from an accredited school or Architectural Technology Program.
