Our project focus reflects our strong interest in housing. We have a number of townhouse and apartment projects underway and upcoming. These include both market and non-market housing and are generally wood-frame low- and mid-rise construction.  Other work includes office interiors, daycare and small commercial buildings and TI’s. Job Description:

We are looking for a leadership-oriented Architect, with experience in wood-frame multi-family residential projects, to manage projects, share their knowledge with junior staff and contribute to the work and culture of the firm. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a smaller office, leading and directing the work of others, taking pride in their work, and participating directly in the growth and success of the firm. An ideal fit for our team will be a motivated, well-rounded individual who is a thoughtful designer with strong technical abilities, excellent communication skills, proven leadership experience and who can grow and foster relationships based on trust and competence.  The position will provide both challenge and diversity in the day-to-day work and an opportunity to grow into a key position within the office. This role is a permanent, full-time position and we are ideally looking for someone who wants to join us long-term and contribute to our growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume a leadership role on a set of current and upcoming projects including producing and modifying design concepts, leading and reviewing drawing production, and overseeing projects through construction.
  • Attend and lead meetings with key project stakeholders including client groups, municipal officials, consultants, contractors, and other team members. Represent the firm and present projects at design panels and public information meetings.
  • Assist with project organization and staffing, budget forecasting, and project metrics tracking.
  • Apply experience and working knowledge (including of housing types, relevant codes, design precedents and building systems) to ensure smooth development of projects and project documents.
  • Review the work of the project team and organize project workflow for effective decision making and information coordination.
  • Oversee and assist with site review and construction related project activities.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external team members and stakeholders through clear and responsive communication.
  • Assist in mentoring junior staff through sharing knowledge and experience.
  • Participate in internal office management which may include developing standards, contributing to growth strategies, assisting with staffing allocation, and team development.

Qualifications:

  • AIBC registered Architect with at least 5 years’ experience leading multi-family residential projects through multiple project phases.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and oversee the production of key drawing and document deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills including experience leading discussions with full project teams including clients, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and some presentation software.
  • Detailed working knowledge of the British Columbia Building Code and municipal land use bylaws.
  • Interest or experience in management, client relations, networking, and business development would be an asset for this role.
