Job Description:
Architectural Technologist
Position Overview
MQN Architects is seeking an Architectural Technologist to join our Vernon, BC studio. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional with deep knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction documentation who can lead production efforts and mentor team members.
Working under the direction of a Project Architect or Senior Technologist, you will support the development of architectural documentation from Design Development through Construction Documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate Design Development and Construction Documents
- Produce accurate architectural drawings in Revit
- Coordinate architectural drawings with consultant information
- Assist with code and bylaw analysis
- Direct preparation of tender documentation
- Support Contract Administration activities
- Participate in quality control reviews
- Maintain organized project documentation and correspondence
- Communicate effectively with internal team members and consultants
- Resolve complex technical and production challenges
Minimum Qualifications for Intermediate Architectural Technologist
- Diploma in Architectural Technology or Bachelor of Architecture
- 3–8 years of professional experience in an architectural office
- Working knowledge of Revit (BIM) for document production
- Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Familiarity with BCBC 2018/2024
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Minimum Qualifications for Senior Architectural Technologist
- Bachelor of Architecture with 8+ years experience OR
Diploma in Architectural Technology with 10+ years experience - Extensive experience producing Construction Documents in an architectural office
- Expert knowledge of building codes, building science, and construction processes
- Advanced proficiency in Revit (BIM)
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Proven leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills
Assets
- Exposure to Contract Administration processes
- Experience coordinating consultant drawings
- Interest in sustainable design and building performance
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to relocate to Vernon, BC
- Authorized to work in Canada
- Fluent in English
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Criminal record check may be required for certain projects
- Must be registered with the AIBC.
