Chernoff Thompson Architects has a position available for an Intermediate Architectural Technologist that will assist us in delivering highly coordinated detailed documents to our clients (from design development through to end of construction). We are looking for well-rounded team members with experience in all aspects of design, documentation and construction. We have a number of high tech/biotech private sector and institutional clients, as well as various projects for all levels of government, healthcare projects, and projects for various post-secondary institutions in Canada and the United States.

Our office is located in downtown Vancouver and usually consists of approximately 45+ staff.
We require motivated, highly disciplined staff with a strong design sense that enjoy working as part of a team.

We are looking for team players, who are comfortable working with consultants and have a significant organizational skills in tracking and documentation of project information, in addition to detailing and construction document preparation and the ability to direct and review junior team members’ work. We are looking for team members who will benefit from working in small groups and directly with our Principals and Associates.

Job Description:

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Registration as an Architectural Technologist with the AIBC or eligible to be registered
  • 4-10 years' experience as an Architectural Technologist in the province of British Columbia (or as registered in a similar jurisdiction)
  • 8-15 years’ total working experience
  • Excellent English language verbal and written skills
  • Outstanding Revit and CAD skills and significant working knowledge in producing well coordinated construction documents
  • Experience in institutional building types, including health care or scientific laboratory interior renovations
  • Experience in all forms of structure - wood frame, steel, and cast-in-place concrete.

You will:

  • Work closely with one or more Principals Associates/Project Managers, and more junior staff on teams of 3-6 persons.
  • Produce highly detailed construction documents in Revit and CAD.
  • Be involved in Schematic Design and Design Development drawings in CAD, Revit or InDesign.
  • Be involved in a variety of project types, including small and medium sized renovations, technically complex interior laboratory projects, and new buildings.
  • Bring a collaborative and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Bring a high level of attention to detail to all your work.

Salary Range: $63,000 - $78,000

Salary to be commensurate with experience and education level. Candidates with different experience, education and skills than requested will have the salary range listed adjusted as appropriate.
