Job Description:

You Are:

You collaborate closely with team members through brainstorming and refining designs to meet both functional design requirements and aesthetic goals. You thrive in a dynamic yet professional environment where you interact with diverse teams and individuals across multiple locations.

Role Summary:
Working closely with senior staff and/or the Project Lead, the junior designer role is a highly collaborative, supporting design role with a great deal of opportunity for creativity and learning under the direct supervision of the project lead. The advanced junior designer will continue their development at S2 with a solid base of understanding, gaining experience in terms of working within a professional studio setting. They will work on multiple projects and will assist in the development of various aspects of the project as required by the Partner, Architect/ Designer or Project Manager. This  junior designer role is one of ongoing learning and understanding of the design process.

What you will work on:
• Assist in developing representations of conceptual design options for team discussion.
• Assist in preparing drawings, models, visuals, graphics, and other project documents.
• Assist in the preliminary programming aspects of the project design.
• Assist in coordination and administration of client and / or consultant meetings.
• Assist in the preparation of project presentations including drawings and sketches.
• Assist in the illustration of the scale and character of a project.
• Assist in coordinating consultants as required.
• Assist in the development of project work plans, schedules, and budgets with the project leader.
• Assist in project document control tasks and maintaining quality control of such tasks.
• Ability to work on multiple projects under the guidance of the project lead.
• Ability to work collaboratively or independently with limited direction.
• Ability to connect various stages of design process to provide consistency though out the duration and phases of a project.
• May be required to provide support or assist with various tasks at various skills levels as may be required for project and / or firm success

You will need knowledge competencies, Basic+ understanding of:
• Architectural design delivery process and services
• Project functionality
• Project management functions
• Building, fire, and energy codes
• Design and construction process
• Specifications
• Building materials and installation methods
• Local authority process
• Architectural document preparation and layout
• Building envelope and principals

You will need technical competencies:
• Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Bluebeam REVU
• Adobe Creative Suite
• Sketch-Up

What you will require:
Education, Licenses & Certifications:
• Degree from a school of Architecture / Design, Undergraduate or Masters, or Enrollment in the RAIC Syllabus Program
• Registered architect with either the AAA or AIBC (based on position applied for)
Experience:
• Minimum 0-3 years of relevant experience in the design/architectural/engineering industry
• Post-secondary training in architectural design
