Organization Description:

We are a small dynamic architectural practice located in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, B.C. Our projects emphasis a regional identity and sustainable design. We undertake a wide variety of project types and sizes, primarily within the mid Vancouver Island region.

We are seeking a broadly experienced, skilled individual with a strong design capability to assist in project design, construction drawings, and contract administration. Capable as a project lead and collaboratively working with other registered architects.

Job Description:

• Strong design thinker.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work positively and effectively with project teams, clients, contractors, and authorities.
• Expected to be self directed, attention to detail, thorough, consistent, and capable of working to deadlines.
• Excellent graphic skills and 3D visualization tools such as Sketch Up, Photoshop/ In Design.
• Excellent cadd capability (Vectorworks or Revit an asset).
• Knowledge of the BC Building Code, municipal bylaws, and environmental regulations/ standards.
• Knowledge of building science, local construction technology, and west coast building envelope principles.
• Knowledge of green building design, sustainable development, LEED, and Passive Haus.
• Be self motivated to continual learning and be registered or eligible to be registered with the AIBC.
• Minimum 5+ years post graduate Canadian work experience.
• Contract administration experience with large mid rise wood frame apartment projects of 50 to 250 units is a key ability and a major role for this position for projects currently under construction and approval process for the coming years.
• Must be registered or be eligible to be registered with the AIBC.
